In The Works: The "Balance" Series
In addition to color, proportion, elegance, and image flexibility, the horse
provides me a window for observation. I use it as an art object that can visually
comment on contemporary subject matter. The comment, of course, is slightly
equine, but also a little primate.
In my recent "Balance" series I continue to use the horse image as my
messenger of human expression. These sculptures speak to the possibilities we
have in making decisions – do we maintain; do we compete; are we aggressive or
passive? Balance 1 and Balance 2 may be seen elsewhere on this website.
Balance 3 is at the foundry. Balance 4, in clay, is evolving in the studio and a
Balance 5 is in the planning stages.
